- archers (or any other fast attacking units) + chain zap enchantment + library to stack up the enchantment is a broken strategy. after a few iterations under tier 3 library, the zap just wipes out the entire enemy's army before they even touch the archers. probably, there should be a limit of enchantments.
other than that the game is pretty entertaining to play.
I have played the game for almost 5 hours now. it did take about 30 minutes to fully understand everything, which in my opinion, is not bad at all. did reach king difficulty relatively fast.
However, the King of Blood's perks are lacking imo, either that or i just could not think of a viable option. I can on average get to year 18-20 with ease but i just get swamped after that.
Will say the game is very addicting though, and am most likely going to pick up the full game when it releases on steam. easily a 7.5/10 with room for upward growth!
I do agree... after seeing a lot of comments on this issue, king of blood does feel a little underwelming. We're doing a rebalancing to make the demon become viable on wave 15ish with the right build. Also, the exploder unit is getting stronger.
At this moment, I guess the mangler + towers build is the best option for the king of blood, but it's not really obvious or easy to hit it.
Yeah, mangler is almost needed at current update. ive had some success with double mangler (if i can draw those) but yeah Tower and mangler with the forest has gotten me close, so i am happy to see i am on the right track!

King of Blood cards feel incredibly underpowered. Or maybe it just hasn't clicked with me yet? Like, I get the gimmick, swarm your enemy with a ton of weak, low power units while your demon altar and cannons scale up, but you aren't going to live long enough to scale unless you get good rewards from the other armies - whereas Nothing and Spells have strong enough bases that you could win without mix and matching cards at all.
Having won with the previous two Kings, I'm not sure why I'm having such a hard time with the king of Blood. It's not the difficulty either, I'm on squire level. But I can't seem to get even to level 20 when I could do this more than once as a novice with the first king.
Why is the King of Blood so weak? As an enemy he is not a real threat and as a king he is beaten more easily by both the Spells and the King of Nothing.
As other people have mentioned, there is a dance battle type situation in the later waves (started at around wave 20 for me).
At around wave 30 on king mode, the units started taking damage during the dance battle.
At wave 43, some of my units died from this damage, this meant that the battle never actually started (I assume because the game was waiting for units to get to a spot, but they were already dead, so they could not.)
This forced me to stop playing the game, as I waited for >10 mins on max speed, and the battle did not start.
Also, the balancing seems way off imo; Farm + library seems to be the only strategy that works past a certain point.
This strategy allowed me to get 2 units of over 100 units, that had like 70 chain lightning and 60 armor perks (I forget what its called, but its the one that nullifies damage.)
Overall, I enjoyed the game, and am looking forward to future updates :)

Sadly, while the game could be fun after figuring out your own broken meta, it is virtually impossible to go past year 20 of the first level/difficulty, especially if you’re fighting against King of Blood.
The amount of entities that need to be animated just during the troop setup stage is way too much, resulting in constant jittering of the troops that doesn’t seem to stop even after 5 minutes of waiting.
Happens at every wave but gets worse the higher the stage. More units on the field = More delay and lag. Practically if you were to speed the game up at 2X then units would shake and delay the start. If the game was set to 3X then the delay either gets super long or doesn't start at all. This only happens before the battle starts.
Btw I can't progress through the game if the cards I have are unplayable due to having no troops or having max upgrade limit. Could you possibly add a skip button to go to the battle stage?
I managed to get to ~ lvl 90 with castlemaxxing (see other comment), some feedback:
1) the physics really seems to be much less of an issue than in previous versions, well done <3
2) This uncovered two new bottlenecks:
- Units getting to position: this can take multiple minutes. Changing speeds/(un)pausing repeatedly helps, so I assume this to be some convergence issue. Might be solvable with either snap-to-grid (after a certain time) or changing the position-updating algorithm (better parameters/choosing a different one)
- Post-battle card selection: This can also take several minutes and is ultimately what killed the run (forced shutdown). I am not sure what causes this/what helps. If I'm to guess, computing card probabilities/going through all the discarded cards/something like that in some very demanding way.
You might want to consider changing the dmg-size scaling (especially from shamans) to something less-than-linear (A logarithm? Square root?). I managed to lose the well in this (1 enemy wizard + a shitton of shamans) :D
Looking at how the enemy troops are playing the idle animation without any lag, I'd say this is actually a bug! Probably some unit could not find the path to it's position. It's a very rare bug, but we've seen it happen in the past :(
spell king is legit impossible to beat, the shamans just buff the other troops 10x and there is nothing you can do. Even when one shotting them with cannon... its futile. Please balance the enemies :sob:
can you please put a limit on how many fucking shamans can spawn because i always lose to spell king because theres no fucking way to wipe out all the shamans before all the enemies are 10x stronger
I agree for a different reason.
after a certain amount of rounds pass there are so many shamans that the game struggles to load everything in for me this started around round 40
I never attack the shamans directly because taking damage is what makes them power up the others. Once I understood this it became more manageable. I still lost a lot because I can't entirely control if they get damage, though.
I have spent a long time trying to win playing as King of Blood on King difficulty and I am pretty sure it is impossible in the game's current state. By the time you hit around level 12-15 the enemy scaling is just so much higher than yours no matter what combo you put together. I'm not sure if this was intended, but it is extremely frustrating.
2 imp armies with a cemetery in between them and a maxed-out demon king, my game lagged and crashed but i made it to 55, the demon kin'gs hp was like 40k

this game is HARD, but very addicting. i like the music and visuals.

The game is way too hard to enjoy. It needs an easier difficulty settings for people who just want to chill

This game is very good and addictive, I've been playing for two days and finally reached the king difficulty, just success!

enemy shamans are way too over powered

I started getting dance battles on year 18, and on year 32 my troops started dying during their epilepsy episodes.

Reach Year 42 before the game just stop working, certainly due to the insane amount of enemy units.
Overall a very good game, was a little hard in the start but i really has fun with this game.
Crashed the game after year 55 on endless mode. Pretty fun game.

OP low-lag strategy: castlemaxxing
1) Take any tanky unit (knights/soldiers/warlocks), ideally two
2) Make them tankier (one of these should be enough)
- max level
- library + block first hit enchant
3) On first decree, take the "infinite castle upgrades" (reroll/reset if neccessary)
4) Upgrade the castle any chance you get
After about 5th upgrade, you should be able to instakill anything (aim at the place with the most enemies), easy win

Are u playing on phone if so I had the same problem to many enemies

wanna be invincible I know just the trick
1.) get a wizard tower
2.) get the enchantment that blocks first hit (equip it on wizard)
3.) get a library and put next to wizard tower
4.) funny
5.) (optional) get the static chain enchantment aswell on wizard
